Local dancers will join the Symphony for this program. Students will not only learn about the musical depictions of the dances, but will also see them come to life through the dancers on stage. Additionally, onstage commentary provided by William Hulings will teach students about the countries where the music and dance originated. Pieces on the program include Copland’s Hoe Down from Rodeo, Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance from Gayane, and Piazzolla’s Libertango, among others.
This concert is open to middle and high school students and teachers. Two sessions will be held on February 14, 2012: 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Each performance lasts 45 minutes. For registration information, please call 541-687-9487 ext. 116.
