Music Director finalist Francesco Lecce-Chong opens the concert with Liszt's colorful waltz based on the Faust story, then Bartók's Third Concerto lights up the stage like fireworks. Mozart's exotic and passionate Overture continues the fun and Strauss' resplendent Suite from Der Rosenkavalier provides thrills to end a perfect evening of music.

About Francesco Lecce-Chong: American conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong, a native of Boulder, Colorado, has worked with orchestras around the world including engagements with the National Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He currently holds the positions of Assistant Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. Learn more.

About Soyeon Kate Lee: First prize winner of the 2010 Naumburg International Piano Competition and the 2004 Concert Artist Guild International Competition, Korean-American pianist Soyeon Kate Lee has been lauded by the New York Times as a pianist with "a huge, richly varied sound, a lively imagination and a firm sense of style," and by the Washington Post for her "stunning command of the keyboard." Master Class: Wednesday, March 15 from 4-5:30pm in the Hult Center Studio  Guest Artist Soyeon Kate Lee will provide one-on-one coaching to three local piano students, as part of our Laura Avery Visiting Masters series. Free and open to the public. The program includes. Sonata No. 9 by A. Scriabin, Masques by C. Debussy and Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 7 by Beethoven.
